Your summer recovery starts here. Slow mornings by the sea, mountain walks as the landscape changes, and a beachfront home to rest in before the festive rush. Booked direct with Daniela & Vincenzo's team.

🌅 The gentle season. Fewer crowds, softer light and room to breathe, with the Mediterranean still on your doorstep. 💛

🍁 Why Autumn Is the Season to Visit

Locals will tell you autumn is Marbella at its best. The summer rush is over, the pace slows down and everything feels easier.

☀️ Mild Weather, Gentle Light

Days are mild and bright, comfortable for walking, swimming and sitting out on a terrace. The light turns softer and golden, perfect for early walks and long sunsets over the sea. 🌇

🏖️ Space to Breathe

Quieter beaches, calmer restaurants and a relaxed Paseo Marítimo. You can finally enjoy the town at your own pace.

🗓️ Reset Before the Festive Season

Autumn is the perfect pause between a busy summer and a busy Christmas. A few days or a few weeks here and you go home recharged. 🎄

📍 A Central Beachfront Base

Our apartments sit on the Paseo Marítimo near Fontanilla beach, with shops, supermarkets, restaurants and the Old Town within walking distance.

🧘 Your Post-Summer Wellness Reboot

  • 😌 Switch off after a busy summer of work and family
  • 📵 Slow your schedule to your own rhythm, with fewer crowds and no queues
  • 🧖 Recharge your energy before the festive rush begins
  • 🎁 Take time for yourself, a partner or close friends before the Christmas calendar fills up

🥾 Hiking in Autumn: Watch the Season Change

This is the season to head for the hills. Cooler air makes climbs more comfortable than in summer, the trails are quieter and the landscape shifts from dry summer tones to richer, greener colours. Always check weather and trail conditions before you set out, and take water and food. 🌲

🏆 For the Keen Hiker

Want a full day among the mountains? Sierra de las Nieves National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, has many trails near Marbella. For maps and brochures, visit the Marbella tourism brochures. 🗺️

📸 What to look for: the softer light, greener hills after the autumn rains, mountain goats and birds of prey along the Sierra Blanca routes. Bring a camera.

🍽️ Autumn Gastronomy: Flavours of the Coast

Autumn is when Marbella's tables get cosier and the food gets even more rewarding. Eat well by the sea, then follow the season inland. 🍂

🐟 By the Beach

  • 🔥 Espetos and fresh grilled fish at the beachfront chiringuitos, with the sea beside your table
  • 🦐 Fried fish and seafood served in the classic Andalusian way
  • 🥘 Rice dishes and paellas for long, relaxed lunches
  • 🍷 Tapas crawls in the Old Town, with fewer crowds and easier tables
  • ⭐ Michelin-starred and modern kitchens for special evenings

Walk through the Old Town to find tapas bars, or book a local food experience. 🥂

🏡 Cook at home too: every apartment has its own kitchen, so you can bring home seasonal produce from the local markets and make it yours.

🍄 Mushrooms & Chestnuts: The Inland Autumn Table

Head inland and autumn tastes different. Mountain villages fill with the smell of roasting chestnuts, and menus turn to wild mushrooms. Both are classic seasonal treats in the hills behind Marbella. 🌰

🌰 Chestnut Season in the Genal Valley

The villages of the Genal Valley, in the Serranía de Ronda, are surrounded by chestnut groves that turn warm, coppery tones in autumn. Villages include Pujerra, Parauta, Igualeja, Cartajima, Júzcar, Genalguacil, Jubrique, Faraján, Alpandeire and Benalauría.

  • 🔥 Roasted chestnuts, the most traditional way to enjoy them
  • 🍲 Chestnut soup and other hearty mountain dishes
  • 🍯 Chestnuts in syrup, candied chestnuts and chestnut cakes
  • 🎉 Chestnut festivals: Pujerra holds its Chestnut Festival every autumn, and Yunquera celebrates its Fiesta de la Castaña y el Vino at the end of October. Check the dates before you go

You can sometimes pick fallen chestnuts along marked trails, but chestnuts on private land are a livelihood for local families and are off-limits. 🧺

🍄 Wild Mushroom Season

After the autumn rains, the woods of the Sierra de las Nieves, the Serranía de Ronda and the hills near Málaga fill with wild mushrooms, among them níscalos (saffron milk caps), boletus, Caesar's mushroom, parasol mushrooms and chanterelles. Look out for them on restaurant menus in the mountain villages.

  • 🧭 Join a guided outing: villages such as Cortes de la Frontera and Júzcar run guided mushroom outings for beginners
  • ⚠️ Never pick anything you cannot identify, as some mushrooms are dangerous
  • 📋 Check local park rules, since picking is limited or banned in some protected areas
  • 🧺 Use a wicker basket and cut gently, so the woods keep producing

🥾 Combine with a hike: walk a chestnut forest trail in the morning and lunch on mushrooms or chestnut soup in the village. Ask us for route and restaurant ideas.

🫒 Olive Harvest Season: From Tree to Table

Autumn is the start of the olive harvest, one of the oldest traditions in Andalusia. The hills around Marbella and Ronda are full of olive groves, and this is the season to see, taste and take part. 🌿

🌳 Join the Harvest

Several local operators offer olive harvest experiences in the Málaga countryside, where you can learn to shake the trees and collect the olives with nets, walk among centuries-old trees, see the oil mill at work and taste fresh oil with bread and cheese. Operators such as A Cooking Day run harvest experiences in season. Ask us for the latest options.

🫒 Olive Oil Tastings & Farm Visits

  • 🎨 LA Organic, Ronda: organic olive oil production, tastings and art in the landscape, about an hour from Marbella. Tours run daily at 12:00 and 16:00; mention Skol Apartments when you book at laorganic.es
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 D'Oliva olive oil tasting: an educational workshop suitable for families and children
  • 🍞 Fresh oil at its best: autumn is the time to taste new-season oil

See all our local and sustainable experiences. ✨

🍷 Wine Experiences: Vineyards, Cellars & Harvest Season

Ronda, about an hour from Marbella, is one of Andalusia's most exciting wine regions, with high-altitude vineyards and boutique wineries. The grape harvest runs mostly in September, and in October and November the vines turn colour, tastings are quiet and the cellars are cosy. 🍇

🏰 Wineries Worth a Visit

  • 🍇 Doña Felisa: vineyard walk, cellar visit and a seated lunch of traditional food
  • ⛪ Descalzos Viejos: a winery set in a 16th-century monastery with views over the Tajo gorge (small groups, book ahead)
  • 🧀 García Hidalgo: a family-run estate with vineyard walks and generous tapas
  • 🌱 La Melonera and Joaquín Fernández: organic estates; Joaquín Fernández also offers horse riding and olive oil tasting
  • 🍷 F. Schatz, Kieninger, Cortijo Los Aguilares, Samsara and Morosanto: more boutique bodegas to explore

Most wineries are outside the town and hard to reach without a car, so we recommend hiring a car or booking a private tour with pick-up from Marbella. Many wineries need advance booking. 🚗

🥂 Closer to Home

Join the sommelier-led tasting at Casa Pablo every Friday at 6:00 PM, with regional wines and local cheese, ham and chorizo. Contact Casa Pablo to book. Find out more on our experiences page.

🍇 Wine and harvest tip: ask us about autumn visits, as dates and experiences change from year to year. We can help you plan a day trip to Ronda combining wine, olive oil and the old town.
